Just as we did with the videos of revisiting northern Germany in ETS2, today we'd like to bring you also the in-game footage of Oregon, which we've shown during our second live developer stream on Steam last week. (If you would like to watch the recording of the whole stream you can do it here.)
Please bear in mind that these videos are straight from our development labs and that the content shown is still very much "work in progress."
A small team from Krone Trailers visited SCS Software's office to check on the progress of our work on implementing their trailers into Euro Truck Simulator 2. We have spent two days with our guests to explain and demonstrate the process of vehicle creation and discuss the challenges ahead of us when building the new DLC while aiming to push the quality bar up again. Their camera guy took the trip rather seriously and recorded a lot of footage.
During our visit to Krone manufacturing plant a couple of months ago, we have been provided with tons of high-quality reference material and access to the actual trailers in the manufacturing plant. It gives us a chance to portray them at an unprecedented level of detail. On top of it, this is going to be our pilot project into implementing new cool trailer-related features into our games! ;) As a result, we have a massive amount of work to do to make sure all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. We really hope that you will appreciate our effort eventually, even if it's a test of patience as it takes a lot of time for the team to pull this all off.
The team from Krone has created really nice video reports from the visit, and we think they may also be very interesting for our fans. There are two different versions of the videos, one in English, the other in German, but they are definitely not identical. The commentary, as well as some of the things shown, are different.
Our work on Krone Trailers DLC continues at full pace. We are not yet ready to announce a specific release date other than "later this year," but we hope that these videos will serve as a nice teaser for the project.
It is really exciting when major manufacturers from transportation industry pay closer attention to our games, and we certainly hope that our ties and involvement with the industry are going to further improve. Our SCS On the Road team (see their calendar) working "in the field" is helping us attract attention, not just from the numerous visitors of various events, but also from industry decision-makers in attendance. Our currently ongoing World of Trucks special event (have you given it a try yet?) is a clear indication that our games can connect the world of simulation games and truck industry really well.
Shameless plug at the end to promote the work of our friends at Krone Trailers media team: Fans of their production should consider checking out their social media channels including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. They are definitely very professionally managed and full of interesting content.
Back in November, SCS Software was celebrating 20 years in the business. We invited a lot of industry friends for our celebrations, and also journalists, youtubers, and streamers. We were delighted to see that Squirrel, one of the most dedicated YouTube creators and Twitch streamers covering our sims, also accepted our invitation.
As Paul traveled to Prague all the way from the UK, he also took the opportunity to spend more time with us to make it worthwhile, with the goal of creating a video report from our office, also interviewing several members of the team.
Lots of time has passed, life intervened in a very unwelcome way, unfortunately. We are happy to see Paul back on the scene, and it looks like all the editing and cutting of the source material is finally done, as the final videos just popped up on Youtube. We're more than happy to share them with you! Hope you'll find them interesting...
On Wednesday, we have offered the players of Euro Truck Simulator 2 a new challenge with the release of Special Transport DLC. We wanted to bring you something fresh, something different from the monotony of standard deliveries. Some of the tight passes should put your skills to a real test, and the escort vehicles make it all look really exciting.
Reading your excited and positive reactions, comments, and reviews on the various communication and social channels, it looks like we have succeeded in our goal, and made our fan base mostly happy.
Searching the Internet, we have found many great fan-made videos, stream records, let's plays, and first looks. Let us show you just a small sample here...
If you are in the mood for even more movies, here is a link conveniently asking YouTube to search for "special transport ets2." However, who would just sit and watch movies all day when you can actually get behind the wheel to deliver those huge loads!? :)
Only a few days have passed since we released the latest ETS2 map expansion - Italia. The fan community's response has been overwhelmingly positive, we're so happy and honored by your voice of support! There were still some bugs reported, and we are working on a quick update of the game and the DLC for next week.
For a very brief moment in time, for some two or three hours on Tuesday evening, our humble map DLC has enjoyed its moment of glory at the very top of Global Top Sellers on Steam. This is a major accomplishment and an indication of the decication and strength of our fantastic player community. Not many full-priced games can do it, especially now in the era of total dominance of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in the chart.
Quite a lot of players and fellow truckers have also celebrated the release their own way - with "First Looks" or "Let's Play" videos for their channels. We think it may be of interest for you if we list some notable videos here...
There are many many more! It would make a never-ending blog post if we tried to list them all, so if your favorite YouTube or Twitch.tv hero isn't placed among those above, try to search some keywords on these sites (like at this link) and surely you'll find their uploads as well.
Thank you all and see you next time! We have some HUGE news lined up for you very soon! ;-)
